MSP Nice Celebration honors the airport's best employees

Earlier this week, the second annual MSP Nice Celebration took place at Terminal 2-Humphrey to honor Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport’s 2015 MSP Nice Award winners.

The event included a live band, hor d'oeuvres, a photo booth and a variety of door prizes valued at $50 to $500. Dennis Probst, executive vice president for the Metropolitan Airports Commission, and Phil Burke, director of MSP operations for the Metropolitan Airports Commission, co-emceed the event.

“In 2014, we had 227 MSP Nice Award recipients, and I’m proud to announce we had a 25 percent increase in 2015,” said Probst at the event. “In 2015, we had 306 MSP employees receive an award and an invitation to this celebration.”

In order to win a MSP Nice Award, you must be the recipient of an unsolicited customer compliment submitted by mail, phone or email.

“When you think there are nearly 18,000 employees that are eligible to receive this award, it’s less than 1 percent that are represented here today,” said Burke, addressing the crowd of award winners. “You truly are the best of the best.”

In addition to celebrating all 2015 MSP Nice Award winners, the three employees who won the most awards in 2015 were recognized during the program and were each given a $50 Visa gift card to recognize their outstanding customer service. The top three award winners for 2015 are:

  • Elviar Harvel, Landside Operations – Metropolitan Airports Commission, eight awards
  • Billy Todd, Landside Operations – Metropolitan Airports Commission, six awards
  • Norm Spilleth, Travelers Assistance – Airport Foundation MSP, five awards

This year’s event was sponsored by HMSHost, Aero Service Group, Delta Air Lines, Enterprise Rental Car, Caribou Coffee, World Duty Free Group, Hudson, Dufry, and St. Croix Promotions and Retail.
