MSP Nice celebration honors the airport’s top 1 percent

Earlier this month, the seventh annual MSP Nice Celebration took place at the Hyatt Regency in Bloomington to honor and celebrate MSP Airport's 2020 and 2021 MSP Nice Award winners.

The event included live music, refreshments, photo booth, magician, and amazing raffle prizes including AirPods, a Mall of America experience pack, TVs and a $1,000 Icelandair travel voucher. The event was sponsored by Aero Service Group, Airport Retail Group, Airport Foundation MSP, Caribou Coffee, Hyatt Regency, Icelandair, IHS, the MAC, Mall of America and Wings Financial.

The award winners received a crystal award and enjoyed a program emceed by Phil Burke, MAC assistant director of Customer Experience. Also featured speakers were MAC CEO Brian Ryks and Chief Operating Officer Roy Fuhrmann, who is chair of the Customer Service Action Council (CSAC).

The MSP Nice Award program was created by CSAC to promote, recognize and reward MSP employees who exhibit excellent customer service throughout the airport. To win an MSP Nice Award, you must receive an unsolicited customer compliment.

Less than 1 percent of MSP employees receive these awards each year and in 2020 and 2021, 258 awards were presented to 218 outstanding individuals.

While the number of awards given was lower than past years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a pause of the MSP Nice Awards program in 2020, Burke recognized the impact that employees have on travelers.

"Regardless of the number of awards being lower than when we last gathered, the impact the 218 individual award winners made remains, and is maybe even more important than ever," said Burke.
