Airport Police Department raises $5K for breast cancer research

Representatives of the Airport Police Department (APD) capped off their Pink Patch campaign Wednesday (Dec. 14) when they presented a $5,000 check to the American Cancer Society in Minnesota.

The funds were generated through public and internal sales of a special, bright pink patch, which  officers had the opportunity to purchase and wear in place of their standard shoulder patches in the month of October. More than 700 patches were sold!

The Pink Patch initiative is nationwide and aims to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and to support breast cancer research organizations. According to the American Cancer Society representative, the statewide Pink Patch campaign garnered more than $60,000 this year.

Congratulations to all involved in the campaign and thank you to those who bought a patch!
