MAC CEO Brian Ryks named airport Director of the Year by AXN

Airport Experience News has named MAC CEO Brian Ryks its 2026 Director of the Year in the Large Airports Division.

The industry publication recognized Ryks for a decade of leadership at MSP, including the airport's rare achievement of being named the top mega airport for customer satisfaction in the JD Power North America Airport Satisfaction Study for three consecutive years.

“Brian Ryks leads an airport that continually raises the bar for the traveler experience through outstanding concessions, innovative amenities and forward-thinking initiatives,” said Amy Hornby, brand director and publisher of Airport Experience News. “His leadership at MSP and unwavering commitment to the broader North American airport industry have earned the respect and admiration of his peers. He exemplifies the vision, leadership and industry-wide impact that define an exceptional airport director.”

Ryks said the recognition reflects the collective efforts of the entire MSP airport community.

“Every day, our MAC employees, airline partners, concessionaires, contractors, first responders and stakeholders come together with a shared commitment to excellence,” Ryks said. “Their dedication has made MSP one of North America's most awarded airports and a global leader in customer experience. I am grateful for all they do and proud to accept this recognition on behalf of our entire airport community.”

Ryks is one of three airport leaders selected as Airport Experience News Directors of the Year for 2026. He joins Charlene Reynolds, director of John Wayne Airport, who was recognized in the Medium Airports Division; and Sam Samaddar, CEO of Kelowna International Airport, who was honored in the Small Airports Division.

All three recipients will be featured in a special Leadership Issue of Airport Experience News and recognized at the 2027 Airport Experience Conference.
