‘Walk-up’ COVID-19 tests temporarily suspended at MSP Airport site

Due to overwhelming demand for COVID-19 tests at MSP Airport's (MSP) Terminal 1, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and Vault Health have temporarily suspended testing of people who walk up to the site without an appointment.

The site – which is located on Level 2 of the Blue Ramp – was originally set up to accommodate 700 testing appointments. In recent days, about 3,000 people have come to the facility to be tested.

MSP employees are encouraged to make an appointment if they wish to be tested at the site.

But if obtaining an appointment is not possible, MDH and Vault Health (the vendor running the testing site) will allow an airport employee to seek testing on a walk-up basis during normal testing hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The airport employee will need to show his or her airport identification to be admitted to the site as a 'walk-up' seeking testing.

The COVID testing site at MSP will continue restricting public walk-ins through at least Sunday, Jan. 9. MDH and Vault Health will continue to monitor the situation to determine if or when the site can return to offering walk-up testing at this location.

Schedule an appointment.
