Airport community pauses to honor 25th anniversary of 9/11

Employees and passengers paused together Friday morning as MSP Airport marked 25 years since the Sept. 11 attacks with a moment of silence and a kindness pledge. 

A tribute at both terminals 

At 7:46 a.m. Friday, operations across MSP Airport paused for two minutes to remember the lives lost on 9/11 and honor the courage shown in the days that followed. Music and announcements stopped, an honor guard played taps, and employees and passengers alike joined in a moment of silence before airport operations resumed. 

Kindness in the Airport Mall 

Alongside the moment of silence, the MAC’s Customer Service Action Community invited employees and passengers to take part in the MSP Inspiring Acts of Kindness pledge, set up in the Terminal 1 Airport Mall. By the end of the day, more than 300 pledges had been added to the board.  

Participants wrote their name and hometown on a sticky note, added it to a pledge board and committed to a simple act of kindness. Each participant received an MSP bracelet as a reminder that kindness travels with them.
