Busy Week Ahead for Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport

Minneapolis-St. Paul –This week more than 700,000 people are expected to travel through Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP), many of them Minnesota families taking advantage of their students’ time off from school during the annual Education Minnesota Professional Conference, a two-day holiday for students.

“This is traditionally a very busy week at MSP Airport, so we’re advising anyone traveling now through Sunday to plan ahead and arrive early,” said Jeff Hamiel, executive director of the Metropolitan Airports Commission, which owns and operates MSP. “We suggest you arrive at the airport least two hours before your flight is scheduled to leave.”

To ensure a smooth journey, take note of these tips and tricks from those in the know:

  • Know what you can and cannot bring through a security checkpoint. Specifically, understand the 3-1-1 rule for liquids. Go to www.tsa.gov for all the details, and remember to take your one-quart zip-top bag of liquids out of your carry-on and place it in a bin for screening.
  • Know your airline’s luggage weight and size restrictions.
  • Save time at the airport; print your boarding pass at home.
  • If you are a Delta Air Lines customer flying out gates C10 through C27, G14 through G22 or Concourses A or B, check your bags at the Delta counter on Level T and take the tram to Checkpoint 10 located midway on the C/G Concourse Connector Bridge.
  • Use SurePark® to check parking availability. Call 1-877-FLY-PARK (1-877-359-7275) or visit: www.mspairport.com/parking/surepark.aspx.
