Winners of second annual MSP employee art exhibit announced

At an awards ceremony held Friday, Dec. 2, the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) Arts and Culture Program Steering Committee and the National Arts Program organization recognized the more than 100 artists who are taking part in the 2nd Annual Exhibit and Awards of the National Arts Program for MSP employees, volunteers and their families.

Jeff Hamiel, executive director for the Metropolitan Airports Commission, and Sue Gens, executive director for the Minnesota State Arts Board and chair of the MSP Arts and Culture Steering Committee, presented awards to the winning artists, as well as recognized all participants.

The second annual MSP Airport Employee Art Exhibit, located on the C Concourse Gallery at Terminal 1-Lindbergh, includes 174 artworks created by 113 artists from 27 companies operating at MSP Airport. Artworks include paintings, photographs, ceramics, textiles, sculpture and mixed media objects.

This exhibit gives employees, volunteers and their family members an opportunity to display their artwork to an international audience of thousands. The exhibit opened Nov. 22 and will continue to be on display through March 6, 2012.

Sixteen winners were chosen from the more than 100 entrants and awarded cash prizes. The judging panel consisted of four art professionals whom represent a variety of art mediums. The following is the list of winners by category.
