Armed Forces Service Center wins national challenge

The Armed Forces Service Center (AFSC) at Minneapolis – St. Paul International Airport (MSP) has been chosen from more than 300 submissions as one of six winners of the Joining Forces Community Challenge.

The Joining Forces Community Challenge was established by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden in an effort to recognize those citizens and organizations with a demonstrated, genuine and deep desire to be of service to military families. The Challenge was established with the expectation that recognizing and celebrating those who are dedicated to improving the lives of military families will encourage others to do so as well.

The Joining Forces Community Challenge, launched in July, captured the innovative ways Americans have stepped up to support and honor military families.

“Our military families demonstrate such strength, service, and sacrifice every single day, and we’re so grateful for everyone who is stepping up to give back to these families. The challenge winners are leading by example, and showing that all of us can find a way to serve those who serve us,” said First Lady Michelle Obama .

Dr. Biden also praised the winners and all efforts to support military families. “As a military mom, I know firsthand the impact a small act of kindness can have on a military family,” she said. “So the great work we have seen through the Joining Forces Community Challenge has been inspiring.”

Defending the Blue Line of  Hastings, Minn. Was also selected as a winner of the Joining Forces Community Challenge.
