Emergency exercise to be held May 16-17

The Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) will conduct a large-scale, two-day emergency exercise Wednesday, May 16 from Noon – 4 p.m. and Thursday, May 17 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The exercise will simulate a tornado strike at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP). During the exercise, MAC will activate:

  • Incident Command at the crash site (Old Navy ramp area)
  • Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at the MAC General Offices
  • Friends and Relatives Center at Terminal 2
  • Survivor center at the Old Navy Building
  • Temporary morgue at the Field Maintenance Building
  • Media gathering/press briefing area at the Drivers Training Center

All efforts will be made to conduct this exercise with the least impact to the airport and its operations. The FAA requires an emergency exercise at least once of three years.

If you have any questions about the exercise, contact Kristi Rollwagen, MAC Emergency Programs Manager, at 612-725-6148 or Kristin.Rollwagen@mspmac.org.
