Southwest begins KCI service

Southwest Airlines began its nonstop service to Kansas City International Airport (MCI) from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) today, Thursday, February 14.

Two roundtrips each weekday will give Minnesota travelers another way to access Texas, Florida and the West via Southwest Airlines. This new flight will be Southwest Airlines’ seventh nonstop destination from MSP.

Currently, Delta Air Lines is the only carrier offering flights to Kansas City. The addition of service by Southwest Airlines brings much-needed competition to MSP. “When airlines compete for customers the result is increased choice and often lower fares for travelers,” said Jeff Hamiel, Metropolitan Airports Commission Executive Director.
