If you see something, say something: Recognizing the signs of suspicious activity

We all play a role in keeping our airports and our communities safe. Whether you’re on your way to work or flying home from a vacation, it’s important to stay alert and report any potential signs of terrorism-related crime and human trafficking to law enforcement.

If you see something, say something. Call 911 if you notice suspicious activity.

Signs of terrorism-related crime:

  • Leaving unattended vehicles, bags or packages
  • Taking pictures of security or personnel
  • Loitering near secure doors or unstaffed exits
  • Asking unusual or unnecessary questions

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security provides additional information on how to recognize the signs of suspicious activity.

Signs of human trafficking:

  • Carrying few or no personal items
  • Having no knowledge of travel details such as destination
  • Appearing to be controlled, closely watched or followed
  • Deferring conversation to someone else
  • Seeming frightened of uniformed security personnel
